CV writing tips

Updating your CV?

Here's some tips to help...

Do's:
✅Have a concise 'about me' or 'professional summary'. 1 paragraph max.
✅Add your town and postcode - your CV may not come up on searches without it.
✅Add your LinkedIn, GitHub or any portfolio links.
✅Job history in chronologic order.
✅Bullet point your responsibilities.
✅Your most recent role on Page 1.
✅Add as much relevant technical detail.
✅Consistency with your font and structure.
✅Apply for roles with pdf - ilovepdf.com, I use on a daily basis.

Don'ts:
❌Add your door number or house name.
❌2 page max CVs are a myth.
❌Skills Charts.
❌DO NOT PAY SOMEONE! This week a candidate told me they paid £200 for a CV review, the advice was awful and irrelevant.
❌CHAT GTP - If you do, at least change the text to British English! Some clients will see a 'Z' instead of an 'S' and immediately mark you as lazy.
❌Don't lie! Surprised to say, I've caught out many people.
❌"References on request" - means nothing and most job offers are 'subject to references'.
