Senior Backend Developer – NestJS
Up to £90,000 + Share Options
Remote (UK-based only)
middle has partnered exclusively with one of the UK’s most exciting early-stage start-ups. This is a greenfield opportunity to shape, build, and scale brand-new applications that help businesses make smarter financial decisions.
We placed a Senior FE Engineer and a Senior BE Engineer into this team over a year ago, and both are thriving. You’ll be joining them directly in build-mode – solving real problems, shaping product direction, and bringing fresh ideas to life.
This role is perfect for someone confident, collaborative, and commercially minded. You’ll be part of a close-knit team where your input has real impact – weighing up speed vs reward, delivering high-quality solutions, and helping to push the business forward.
Tech Stack (core)

5+ years of strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS

Unit testing experience (ideally Jest)

Practical knowledge of web application security

Proven background with PostgreSQL

Strong experience with GraphQL
This role will suit you if you are:

Experienced in start-up or scale-up environments (bonus)

Familiar with Financial Services (useful, but not essential)
Bonus: Full-Stack Option
We’re also open to Full-Stack Engineers with experience in:

FE: React, Next.js, Material UI

BE: Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript

GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps

Work on a true greenfield build with modern tech

No technical test – instead, you’ll showcase real projects (ideally in TypeScript) and talk them through with the team

Up to £90k salary + share options
